First giggles

Think about it. There was a time when you didn't know what it was like to be warm and dry. You'd never really been happy or sad. We were all like that once, but we had people who cared enough about us to show us the good things in life. One of those things for Alexander is being tickled by Daddy. He sure looks happy to me!

Kickin it

Xander loves to spend an hour or so awake very late at night. Michael and I let him lie down in our bed between us and play. Last night he was very active. We figure that he's practicing running horizontally before trying the whole vertical thing. Smart baby! Adorable hedgehog outfit provided by Auntie Rosemary.

Just an illusion caused by the world spinning...

I'm probably not the only new mother out there that had this startling realization:

This isn't going to last forever.

Xander is a little over a week old. I was going around cleaning yesterday when I saw the roses Michael got me in celebration of our little son's birth.

They had wilted.

Roses die, but every year, if you care for them, the roses return. There's a song I love by The Flaming Lips called "Do You Realize" that says "the sun doesn't go down, it's just an illusion caused by the world spinning round."

This blog will keep you, my friends and family, close to us. I want to stay in contact with you, and share with you what goes on between sunrise and sunset. I love you!
